Hi everyone, welcome to WEEK 3!!!!!! It’s hard to believe that we’re already halfway through July, but as the saying goes: time flies when you’re having fun!
Tuesday Movie Night
It’s movie night this Tuesday at SLSC! Join us for a private screening of an awesome movie. Our backshedders have been doing a stellar job leading activities so far this year, you definitely don’t want to miss out! The movie starts at 6:30pm and costs 2 dollars. Bring a cup for juice! If you’re over 13, join us for the second scaryyyyy movie. The instructors gave the backshedders quite the fright on their way home last week, though they won’t admit it. See you there!
Wednesday Fun Day + Pizza Lunch
Another weeks means another Fun Day! We’ll be channeling our inner Indiana Jones this week as we embark on a club wide Scavenger Hunt! Sailors will embark on a quest around Sturgeon Lake to solve a riddle and win a prize! Come dressed in your best adventurer outfit to really get into character. There will also be pizza lunch! Pickup will be at 1pm on Wednesday to account for our lunch. Pizza is included in registration.
Friday Night Dance
Come down to SLSC to party with us this Friday night! We’ll be having our weekly dance this Friday from 7-9pm. The dance costs $2. This weeks theme is ABC (Anything But Clothes!!!). Come in your best trash bag look and win a prize! Hope to see you all there 🙂
Other
SLSC had our first Ross Memorial Hospital trip last week when Shannon fell victim to the zebra mussel invasion around club and cut her hand. She got 4 stitches and took it like a champ! She will now be wearing mittens when she goes swimming at the club.
Our first Sunday Afternoon Races took place yesterday. It was quite windy, and there was a stellar turnout. Nolan Roberts (and his dad) reminded some instructors that sailing is maybe not like riding a bike, and destroyed them in the race. Hopefully, we will be able to get more races in next time, but unfortunately thunderstorms threatened. Nolan and Nick, Sinclair and Parker are going to devote hours to training for next time, so watch out!
We are gearing up for our first regatta of the season this weekend. Our 420 Race Team will head to Four Sisters at PCYC this weekend! We are sending 3 boats, and if any name suggestions come to mind let us know! Wish them all luck 🙂
