Week 7
Holy cow! The instructors can’t believe that it is already Week 7. After a week of bad weather and lots of mafia and darling, the sailors are ready to be back on the water. Even though the summer is winding down, SLSC still has tons of fun activities planned, so stay tuned.
Cottage Club
This past Thursday and Friday, the Backshed headed off to South Muskoka for Cottage Club in order to prove that we are indeed the most superior cottage club. Despite differences between the clubs like whether it is “Larry Curly Moe” or “Curly Larry Moe”, the sailors and coaches had a great time. A huge shout out to Ruby and Sinclair who won 1st place in the regatta! Way to go!
Tuesday Movie Night
It comes as no surprise that Tuesday night is Movie Night. It starts at 6, ends at 7:45 (ish), and bringing $1 will provide you with juice, popcorn, and a great mystery movie. Please please please remember to bring a reusable cup for juice as Elliott (and the planet) will be extremely disappointed in the lack of ‘sustyness’. There will be another movie after for those who are 13 or turning 13 by the end of the year which costs an additional dollar.
Wednesday Fun Day & Pizza Lunch
Tomorrow is a ~mystery Fun Day~. What is not a mystery about it though, is that there will be pizza, juice, dessert, and pick up/bike home at 1:00. As mentioned before, please bring a reusable cup for juice and remember the slogan: No cup, no juice!
Friday Dance ~Dress Somewhere on the Gender Spectrum Dance~
One of the most anticipated dances of the year is this Friday: Dress-Somewhere-on-the-Gender-Spectrum / Boy-Girl Dance. Older sisters everywhere are thrilled to have the opportunity to give their brothers a complete makeover filled with dresses, wigs, and lots of makeup. As always, pop, candy, and freezies (depending on whether or not they are frozen) will be for sale. It costs $1 to get rid of your energetic kids/angsty tweens for a whole 2 hours filled with loud (slightly out of tune) singing, crazy choreographed dances and instructors and sailors alike busting out their sweet moves on the dance floor.
Sunday Afts
This past Sunday we had a great time at Sunday Afts due to the perfect combination of great wind and lots of sailors. Suki had straight bullets in the feva fleet and Richard, no surprise, won the laser fleet. Our last Sunday Afts of the summer is this weekend so please come out and sail!
CORK
Ruby Farr and Margaret Wilkins are currently at CORK and are going to prove that they are the best sailor/coach duo that Portsmouth Olympic Harbour has ever seen. We wish them the best of luck and hope that they have an amazing time!
N’oubliez Pas
August is cold!! Please bring appropriate sailing gear for the weather. A reminder to continue bringing reusable water bottles, closed toed shoes, and sunscreen!
Love,
Meg
