SLSC Newsletter: Week 3, 2013
Hello everyone and welcome to Week 3 of SLSC 2013! There was a lot going on at the club this weekend at the bi-annual Mid-Ontario Regatta! Despite a disappointing turnout from the wind, the regatta was a huge success and all of the visiting sailors were raving about the amazing hospitality that they experienced during their stay. A big congrats to our very own Jacob Webster and Graeme Shea for placing 3rd in this weekend’s regatta! Great job boys! We have more racing excitement to come this week with our three race teams heading out to regattas! The Elite Opti Race Squadron and our Junior Race Team are going to the Steerer’s Regatta in Port Credit this Wednesday and our Race Team is going to the Four Sister’s Regatta on Friday, also in Port Credit. Good luck racers!
Dances and Movie Night
This Tuesday night is movie night! The first movie starts at 6:30 and is suitable for all ages and the second movie is suitable for kids aged 13 and up. Each movie is $1 and popcorn and juice will be served. See you there!
The dance is this Friday night! The dance is $1 and pop will be sold for $1 and freezies for 25 cents. The person with the best costume will get a prize, stay tuned for the theme! The dance runs from 7 until 9. See you then! This week’s theme is ‘What Not To Wear’, so get out your tackiest clothes!
Fun Day and Pizza Lunch
We’re cookin’ up some magic at the club this Wednesday for HARRY POTTER DAY!! Come dressed as your favourite Harry Potter character and get ready for a fun day full of magic.
As always this Wednesday is also Pizza Lunch. Two slices of pizza, lemonade and an ice cream sandwich are $7.50. Pizza arrives at 12:30 and pick up is at 1.
Wednesday Night Races
This Wednesday will be the second edition of our Wednesday night racing series. Sailors from all levels can come down to the club at 6:30 to rig, and we will assign everyone a boat to sail in. After the races, stay for a bonfire and reward your racing with some s’mores! Pick up time is 8:30.
Things to Bring
As always we’re promoting a waste-free sailing club, so we encourage all sailors to bring their own reusable water bottle to club. We have a water cooler up stairs that we will be sure is always full for sailors to fill their water bottles up with. Other things that are important to bring everyday are a PFD, closed toed shoes, a change of clothes, weather appropriate gear (a little rain doesn’t keep us from sailing!), a towel, sunscreen, a hat and a snack.
Happy Sailing!
Keira & Kate 🙂
