After a very successful Mid-Ontario regatta last weekend Sturgeon Lake will once again be the testing field for a smaller fleet of local boats. For those who are unfamiliar with this event, it is SLSC’s annual local regatta, open to all sailors young and old. The main event takes place Saturday: a big course will be set for 420s (both spin and sans-spin), Lasers, Radials, Bytes and Handicaps (The Handicap class is a class open to all other types of boats that will race against each other and be scored based on a scoring system – so if you have a boat and want to sail it, you’re more than welcome!). Another course will be set for Mosquito racing. All SLSC kids, parents and friends are encouraged to come and race! The Civic regatta can be a great little introduction to racing for young sailors. [Should the weather be un-sail-able on Saturday, Sunday afternoon will be the rain date.]
Civic continues on Sunday afternoon with the infamous Parent Child Race. This is an opportunity for sailors in White Sail 2 and 3 to sail in a fun race with one of their parents (or a good substitute)!
More information and complete details on Civic will be made available later this week. Stay tuned!
