CORK Fall Regatta – September 28 – 30: Kingston served up three quality days of racing for this past weekend’s NQR events and Murray McCullough was there with his crew Louis-Phillipe Bougie Bastien to compete in the 49er Olympic Class. This was one of the inaugural regattas in Murray and Louis-Phillipe’s campaign to represent Canada in England in 2012.
A big variety of conditions and nice temperatures marked a highly entertaining regatta. This from the report on the Regatta filed by CYA’s National coach: “In the 49er Class, Billy Gooderham and Ian Hogan of RCYC continued their one on one battle with Murray McCullough and Louis-Phillipe Bougie Bastien, exchanging victories on the last day of racing and ultimately ending up 1 – 2 in the event. Although not a deep fleet of competitors, it was encouraging to see new blood in the 49er class, and particularly athletes of this caliber…”
Congratulations to Murray and Louis-Phillipe on a promising end to the 2007 season, setting the stage for a great battle with their nemises from RCYC and the rest of their 49er competitors in 2008 and beyond.
